A short biography of Mark T. Ford:
Born in 1973 in rural New York State, Mark has always had a love for the outdoors.
While growing up, he spent countless hours making maple syrup, raising a garden,
working on local farms, or fishing, anything to be outside. His love of geology
started at a young age and was closely tied to his love for the outdoors. While
the Southern Tier of New York generally limited Mark to studying fossils, he
quickly switched over to igneous petrology and then geochemistry in college.
He continues his studies in geology to this day, recently competing a master's
thesis on rhyolite domes (a type of volcano) near the Snake River Plain in Idaho.
He is currently working on a PhD at Oregon State University working under Anita
Grunder and Adam Kent. For more information on Mark, check out his pictures page or CV.
Check it out! I have received the coveted "Best Wesbsite of the
Pleistocene" award for 2005!! I'm truly awed by this great honor!!
