Research Area

Ecology and soilborne plant pathogens; management of root and crown diseases of small grains and grasses.

Description of Research

Emphasis is on the biology and control of soilborne plant-pathogenic fungi and plant-parasitic nematodes that cause root and crown diseases of wheat and barley. Disease management strategies include investigations of tillage and cropping systems, improvement of genetic tolerance in crop varieties, and chemical control. This work is performed at facilities of the experiment station and cooperating farmers.
