Identification, characterization and control of diseases impacting vegetable, field and specialty crops, including alfalfa, wheat, grass, carrot, garlic, onion, potato, mint and others.
Virus, nematodes, fungal and bacterial pathogens cause extensive losses in the central Oregon. My research is focused on the identification of the specific pathogens and conducting biological and epidemiological studies aimed at improving our understanding of disease epidemics. The ultimate goal is to develop and implement disease management strategies minimizing the use of chemicals and increasing productivity and sustainability.
