College of Science Career Development Advanced Boot Camp: 
Pursue Your Dream Job

Science Success Center, Kidder 109 

You have career goals and are ready to pursue your dream job. What next? Do you need help writing a strong cover letter, resume and polishing your interview skills? Join us at this boot camp to master the skillset required to get your foot in the door and attain your professional dreams. 

In this bootcamp you will learn:

  • How to create effective resume and cover letter
  • How to develop a job search strategy
  • How to prepare for job interviews
  • How to negotiate your first job offer

This boot camp offers you technical how-tos so you can start pursuing your dream job. Open to all and especially recommended for students who are less than a year away from graduation.

Peace Corps info session:
How science majors can use their global experiences to make a difference

Every returned Peace Corps will tell you that serving in the Peace Corps is a life changing experience. Join the Peace Corps recruiter and a returned Peace Corps to learn why science major should consider joining Peace Corps to help an underserved communities abroad and the professional/career development benefits for returned Peace Corps. Seats are limited to 20.

Portland-Metro Forensic Lab Tour 

Downtown Portland

Don't miss this adventurous and exciting lab tour. Learn more about a career as a forensic scientist by joining this Portland Forensic Lab Tour. Two vans will leave Corvallis at 10 am and return at 4 pm. Seats are limited to 20.

5 Under 5 (Alumni career panel) 

Alumni Center, Willamette Room

College of Science Alumni Career Panel is a fun, popular and educational event for you to meet young alumni who are pursuing diverse careers and career paths. LEarn about their career trajectories and ask questions about professional life after college. Five COS alumni will chat with you in a panel setting in the first hour. This will be followed by an informal dinner where you can have more time to chat with alumni in a relaxed setting.  

This event is a safe environment for you to ask questions and practice networking skills. Bring your questions! Seats are limted to 50.

College of Science Career Development Foundation Boot Camp:
Discover Your Career Options

Science Success Center, Kidder 109

If you are less than a year away from graduation, this engrossing bootcamp will teach you how to identify career options and develop a job search strategy. This three-hour bootcamp takes place on January 20 (Saturday) from 10 am-1 pm. Through interactive activities and discussion, this bootcamp provides an opportunitity for you to: 

  • Identify your career options
  • Define your own career success
  • Develop a job search strategy

This boot camp lays out a solid foundation for you to start taking charge of your career.

Peace Corps Information Session for Mathematics Majors

If you are a math major, Peace Corps needs you! Come to this session to learn how the Peace Corps can use your math skills. If you have a passion to assist the global effort to improve math and science skills in underserved communities, do check out this information session.
