Plant Pathologist Appointed to Federal Committee

The Invasive Species Advisory Committee of the National Invasive Species Council is comprised of 30 representatives of science, conservation, agricultural communities, state and tribal governments, and industry organizations that are affected by invasive species. Appointments to the committee are made by Dirk Kempthorne, Secretary of the Interior.

Stone studies the mycology, ecology and evolutionary biology of fungal parasites of conifers. His research program is investigating the distribution, biology and effects of a pathogen of Douglas-fir, as well as issues relating to the sudden oak death pathogen. He joined the OSU faculty in 1987.
