By moving beyond a one-size-fits-all learning model to offering varied opportunities for different learners, we will better accommodate and serve all students and enhance learning outcomes. We will continue to invest in and recognize the pivotal role faculty and staff play in motivation and learner success. (OSU Strategic Plan 3.0, p. 5)
As part of our commitment to fulfilling this investment in faculty and staff contributions to learner success, we are pleased to announce the request for proposals for the 2017-2018 Learning Innovation Individual Grants.
Faculty are invited to apply for innovation grants to foster and support the meaningful use of educational technology. Proposals of up to $10,000 will be awarded for new and innovative uses of technology to improve the student experience, whether in courses, informal learning experiences or student life.
Applications for Academic Year 2018 Individual Grants are due on December 1, 2017. For examples of successful individual grant projects, please access the list of past awarded projects.
The grant review team will assess proposals on the potential to enhance student learning or extracurricular improvement, projects with the potential to encourage and engage students, the degree of innovation, and the capacity for success of the project. Grants may be focused at any level of undergraduate or graduate education. Success factors will include a clear implementation plan, the ability to apply the ideas or technology beyond the individual pilot or transcend specific curricula, alignment of the proposed technology and pedagogy to be implemented to course/program learning outcomes, and the cooperation of students, faculty, departments or others who may be involved. Grants might be awarded for course improvements or might be considered pilots that can lead to a project of larger scale over time.
