Nov-DecReview “Self-Assessment” (www.science.oregonstate.edu/node/127) to determine if you are ready to apply; start planning for the MCAT; visit http://www.aamc.org and http://www.aacom.org; get health care and community service experience over winter break. Read broadly!
Dec-JanMCAT review courses bagin (Kaplan, U of Oregon and Altius)
Jan-JuneAttend Application Seminar. Meet with Chief Premedical Advisor and your own Premedical Advisor to open your premedical file (deadline: June 3). Begin asking for letters of recommendation (due June 15). Research schools, review prerequisites, work on personal statement.

June 3Deadline to complete the Premed Committee application, which opens your Premed File. Meet with Chief Premedical Advisor and your own Premedical Advisor for interviews. Bring this completed packet, a tentative list of schools, lists of activities and your personal statement to the meetings. Once the signed forms are received by the College of Science, your premedical file is officially open. Refer to www.science.oregonstate/node/127.
Early JuneEarliest date to submit AMCAS or AACOMAS
Mid-June
Request ALL transcripts be sent to AMCAS or AACOMAS.    
June 15
Due date for all letters of recommendation. It is your responsibility to monitor the status of your letters via your web link. Your file must be complete at this time (see checklist).
June 20MCAT administered
July-Sept Students receive secondary applications; Committee Letters uploaded for those students with complete files and MCAT scores; students need to keep in contact with advisor regarding letters.
July 2, 13, 25, 26
MCAT administered  (NOTE: recommend MCAT be taken by July 13 for this cycle)
Aug 2, 3, 9, 15, 16, 22, 28
MCAT administered (NOTE: mid-August dates are too late for this cycle)
Early August Need to have submitted AMCAS/AACOMAS application by now - Really!
Sept 17, 11, 12
MCAT administered (NOTE: these dates are all too late for this cycle)
Aug-April 2014Students interview and receive offers of admission or rejection notices or, quite commonly, are put on hold for months.
May 15, 2014Students will know if they have been accepted, rejected, or wait-listed, and after this date applicants may not hold more than one seat at a med school.
Note: earlier deadlines are in effect this year, in response to medical schools’ wishes.  It is in the applicant’s best interest to complete everything as early as possible. It really does make a difference to be early! Reapplicants must meet the same deadlines!

 Remember, LATE = REJECT OR ALTERNATE!
