Research projects

My research in fluvial geomorphology and hydrology unites modeling and field studies in the larger attempt to understand the evolution of landscapes and their rivers and streams on both human and geologic time scales. I am especially interested in the interactions between surface processes and plants, especially trees.

My projects generally sort out into two sorts of places:       (1) steep mountain streams prone to debris flows, and   (2) lowland alluvial rivers prone to migration.
