Grading

The grading scale for the course will be no stricter than 90-100% A- or better, 80-90% B- or better, 70-80% C- or better, 60-70% D- or better, 0 - 60% F.

This grading scale may be relaxed, depending on the overall performance of our class compared to past honors sections of MTH 306 I've taught.

The weighting of the graded components of the course is as follows:

Activity

Percentage of Course Grade

Graded Homework ^ 30%
Midterm Exam * 20%
Five online Quizzes (given on our Blackboard site) 20%
Final Exam ** 30%

The final exam will be comprehensive.

* There will be no conflict or makeup midterm exams. If you miss the midterm, your final exam will count 50% of your course grade.

** A conflict final exam will be scheduled only in very exceptional circumstances and only if arranged for well in advance of the scheduled exam date. Travel arrangements that conflict with the final exam are not exceptional circumstances.

^ Homework: Each homework problem will receive two sets of marks, one for mathematical exposition normally graded 0, 3, or 5 on a 5 point scale and one for logical correctness normally graded 0, 5, 7, 8, 9, or 10 on a 10 point scale.
