Other Resources
- OSU Valley Library -- search the online catalog for books on matrix algebra,
linear algebra, infinite series, or for a key work you
learn during the term; find some typical call numbers
and
go to that section of the library and browse.
- GOOGLE (or your favorite search engine) -- search for specific topics in
matrix algebra,
linear algebra, infinite series, or for key words you learn during the
term
- Math Department website
offers a variety of information including what math classes are offered and
when, final exam schedules, and how to get math advising.
- MLC, the Math
Learning Center, is in Kidder 108E and offers one-on-one help from faculty,
graduate, and undergraduate tutors
- Click here for a review of summation
notation and help with using a TI 85, TI 86, or MAPLE to evaluate partial
sums painlessly.
- There is a useful on-line study guide for MTH 253, 254, 255, and 256. The MTH
253 on-line study guide has excellent support materials for MTH 306.
I highly recommend the site.
- In Lesson 9 you learn that power series can by manipulated like ordinary
polynomials provided you take a little care about where the results are valid.
Some of you may be rusty at long division of polynomials and therefore may
have trouble doing long division of infinite series. Here are two links that
may be helpful. The first is about long
division of polynomials and the second gives two examples of how to apply
the long division algorthim to power
series.
- Wiley failed to include the last two pages of the index at the end of the course lessons. Click index for a complete three page index.
