Ross got his B.S. in chemistry at Washington State University in 2013, he then joined the Loesgen group in the winter of 2014. Having grown up in Portland Oregon he is a Pacific Northwest native and has always appreciated the diversity of weather and culture the area has to offer. His curiosity in chemistry developed in high school from the guidance of an inspirational science teacher. His love for organic chemistry was developed while working in an organic research group during his undergraduate career.

His research interests are based in the discovery of bioactive natural products from fungi. He is also beginning a project toward the synthesis of thiazole antiviral compounds.

Some of Ross’ hobbies include home brewing beer, snowboarding, hiking, and cooking.
