Funding agency:
Craig H. Neilsen Foundation

This request for proposals focuses on highly innovative projects by established PIs to explore new areas of SCI research or fill important gaps in the SCI field. The goal is not to substitute for federal funding, but to use Neilsen Foundation funds to encourage cutting-edge ideas and approaches that have great potential, despite some additional risk. The importance of the research goal should balance the risk due to the early stage of innovation. This funding opportunity is for individuals who are senior, independent investigators (equivalent to Associate Professor or above), employed at the grantee institution, at the time of the FGA submission. Criteria include the innovative nature of the proposed research, the likelihood that success will move the field forward, and a history of productivity and significant contributions by the investigator. Applicants should carefully consider their qualifications and the relevance of their Aims to the Neilsen Foundation before applying for a Senior Research Grant.

Funding for Senior grants is $200,000 per year, for up to three years, $600,000 total costs.
