Take a break with science and doughnuts

Voodoo Doughnuts

The Science Success Center in the College of Science is excited to announce the Spring Science Fair and Study Break on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., outside on the Valley Library Quad near Kidder Hall. Join us for quirky science games, prizes, student clubs and crazy doughnuts from Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland!

The pink Voodoo Doughnut truck and free doughnuts always draw a crowd! The event has become an annual tradition in the College as well as a welcome treat for students and faculty.

This year the Science Success Center and Peer Advisors are organizing the event, which seeks to build community and to increase the visibility and the love of science at OSU. The event is supported by generous science alumni and friends and the College of Science.

To promote science, clubs will be giving away free stickers proclaiming “DO-NUT ever stop learning,” “Sprinkle me with knowledge” and “Glazed but never confused.”

The study fair offers plenty of chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, biology, microbiology, biohealth sciences and biochemistry talk. Catch up with friends and advisors and learn more about the science clubs at OSU.

Many clubs are hosting cool science games and demonstrations. Last year the fun included Pin the Oxygen on the Hemoglobin, the antibiotic game, and crafty things like making origami, fractal crafts, putty stress balls and more. You might even score helpful study tips for a zoology final exam, a physics project or get much-needed advice from our Science Career Development Advisor.

Last year more than 700 students, faculty, advisors and staff attended the Weird Science Study Break and Science Fair. Stop by and talk science!
